My first time

Prev Next

I remember my first exposure to high-end audio like it was yesterday. My friend Jim invited me to his home to hear a "real stereo": a JBL corner horn system fed by Audio Research equipment. The year was 1973. The track he played for me was Edgar Winter's Frankenstein (the piece was cobbled together from bits and pieces in the studio; hence the name) and if you remember, there's an energetic drum solo in the middle. I was stunned at how the drums came out into the room as if there was someone playing them right in front of me. I was hooked and my life was changed forever. To share what we may take for granted is an act of giving and kidness that may just change someone else's life for the better. When's the last time you turned someone on to high-end audio?
