The stereo pyramid
When I picture building a stereo system the image that first forms in my head is that of a pyramid. The pyramid's base is AC power and upon that is stacked sources, followed by preamps, amps, and at the very tip of the pyramid the speakers. This hierarchy forms a helpful image when picturing how everything fits together to create the perfect whole. Where we often find ourselves astray is when we forget the importance of a solid foundation. Egyptian and Mayan architects understood the importance of the pyramidal shape. For, without the massive solid foundation supporting the pyramidion, no structures of that time were capable of reaching such soaring heights. If you want to elevate your system's performance make sure you're building upon a firm foundation. Tomorrow's the final day to get your AC power firmed up at a price you can afford.
