Start with the basics
There is nothing more basic to our HiFi systems than AC power. Everything starts out as a 50Hz or 60Hz sine wave and then gets converted to whatever form of power needed for the equipment to work its musical magic. But getting even more basic is the AC power at the very beginning of the playback chain, the recording itself. When Octave Records records, mixes, and masters, every step of the way is fed pure and perfect regenerated AC from a Power Plant. Recently, our head of the recording arts, Gus Skinas, travelled to Mesa Arizona and its Arts Center to meet recording engineer Robert Friederich (of Telarc fame and who recorded for Octave Don Grusin) to make an epic recording of the amazing Grammy-winning musician, Zuill Bailey. That's the good news. The bad news is we won't get to enjoy this epic work until May of 2021, but here's a picture of the recording setup just to wet your whistle. That's a lot of equipment for one musician and his $7,000,000 cello, but we can be certain the recording gear was fed what it needs most. Perfect, pure power. Whistle wetted? Can't wait.
