Midfi's the way to go on a budget
There seems to be a general sentiment in the world that if one cannot afford the expensive high-end audio products they must either settle on used or Mid-Fi performance. Why do we believe that? We know there are terrific hi-performance products from multiple companies, including PS Audio. Our Sprout continues to uphold the standards of high-performance audio as do the products from multiple other companies in our industry. If I had to guess, I'd think the sentiment must have come from over-aggressive salespeople. Surely it wouldn't have been from our own ranks of well-meaning audiophiles. Myths and misconceptions have always been rife throughout our culture. Some are worth exposing so more people can enjoy the benefits of high-performance audio.
