Does music speak to us?
*Chapter 30 of Resurrection is now available to read here. This is the last of the chapters. Hope you enjoyed this sneak peek. Some of the music I listen to goes in one proverbial ear and out the other without stopping in between. It's good stuff, but it just doesn't resonate. But then, when everything's just right, it sticks. I can be reading, or cooking, or even seriously listening and bang! A resonance occurs like the ring of a bell. There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern I can identify, it just happens. Music is a kind of language that speaks to us without specifics, unencumbered by the exactness of words. Depending on the day, my mood, or just plain I haven't a clue why, the same music connects or doesn't connect on any given day or circumstance. A piece that normally moves me while listening in the car might just leave me lackluster on the HiFi system, and vice versa. More than anything else I can think of, it's music that speaks to me and touches my soul. What an amazing artform. What's your favorite musical language?
