With all due respect to my dear friend and founder of Golden Ear Audio, Sandy Gross, I would like to dispel a myth that seem rather pervasive out in the great unwashed world of non-audiophiles.
The myth is simple. "I don't have the ears or the skills to appreciate a high end audio system."
Poppycock.
Truth is, in the fifty years I have been working in high-end audio I have never run into anyone that could not appreciate the difference between a full-on audiophile system from a pair of smart speakers. If nothing else, the sheer size of the image difference speaks volumes of what the difference in hearing might be.
But deeper than that, from the UPS driver to the 30-year veteran of audio shows, sitting in front of a pair of speakers on a system that simply disappears and we're left with only the wonders of the music is a treat enjoyable and recognizable to anyone with even a modicum of reasonable hearing.
We're all golden ears in the right setting.
