Every part of a system, at the point where it begins

Stellar exists to answer a question we were asked constantly and could not answer well: how do I get into this without spending what a car costs? The honest answer is not a cheaper product. It is the same engineering thinking, applied to a smaller job.

So Stellar is not a kind of product — it is where each of the things we make starts. Conversion, amplification, power, built to the same standard as the equipment above it and asked to do less, rather than built down to a price and asked to do the same.

Who it is perfect for

Someone building a real system for the first time, who wants it to be good rather than provisional — and who would rather make one decision properly than five nervously. Someone who already owns equipment they like and wants the single component that lifts all of it. Someone furnishing a second room, where the whole point is that it is simple and it still sounds like us.

Who it is not for: anyone chasing the last few percent. That is what the reference line is for, and we would rather say so than sell up.

Three ways in

One box, and you are listening

The Stellar Strata MK2, $3,499 — an integrated amplifier with a converter, a phono stage and a headphone amplifier inside it. Add loudspeakers and you have a complete system with one decision made.

One box, and what you own gets better

If you already have a system, the fastest improvement is usually a single component: a StellarGold DAC at $3,999 if the source is the weak link, an S300 at $1,999 or M700 monoblocks at $3,498 if the amplification is, a PowerPlant 3 at $2,999 if the wall is — and that last one improves every other brand in the rack too.

Piece by piece, in the order you choose

Separates from the same series, added when it suits you, each one designed to sit alongside the others. The phono stage at $2,999 when the records come out of the loft; the preamplifier when two sources become four.

Nothing here is a starter version of something better

The measurement discipline, the listening, and the people are the same as on equipment costing ten times more. What changes further up the range is scale and ambition, not honesty — and every step up from here takes what you already own in part exchange, whoever built it.
