No one just grabs a shovel and starts digging in the hopes of finding buried treasure. You would wind up with a lot of empty holes and a serious set of calluses.
No, we first need a clue there is a treasure to be found which is why finding a treasure map is the first step in any adventure story.
With a map in hand let the digging begin.
For me, that treasure map often starts with hearing something extraordinary. Perhaps it's a better rendition of a familiar piece of music, a tweak of a circuit that yields the promise of better things to come, or simply reading a review of someone else's treasure trove.
Whatever the clues, once we hear (or read about) something better we know there's treasure just waiting to be found.
There's always better.
