No, I am not happy that my fruits and vegetables seem to be going downhill and I miss the golden era of recording engineers caring about sound quality, but for the most part, when it comes to technology, things keep getting better.
I recently had the opportunity to compare one of our very first DACs (designed and built before the turn of the century which really makes it sound ancient) with a more modern version and found myself stunned at the difference. The old one really did sound digital while the newer one just sailed along playing music.
They don't make 'em like they used to.
