Audio philosophy
My son, Scott, wrote to me. "I find that audiophiles can often get philosophical…but what I’ve never seen was a philosopher go audiophile. That’s a unique perspective. An educated outsider’s view of what it is we do." His note was in response to an email from David Hildebrand, the president of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy and the chair and professor of philosophy at UC Denver. Turns out that Professor Hilderbrand is something of an audiophile and became intrigued with its many philosophical questions. Intrigued enough to write a paper and present it in the form of a YouTube video. What an intriguing idea. Have a look at the philosophical arguments of audiophiles, like measurementists vs. subjectivists, or gear lovers vs. music lovers, and so forth. Watch the Quest for Absolute Sound here.
