I've been involved in the high-end for more than 50 years. That's longer than a number of our HiFi Family members have been alive.
And always, during that half century, there's the question of the high-end shrinking as the older crowd loses interest, or life. And always, the answer has been the same.
No.
As one generation heads to the exit another is coming through the entrance.
Now, I am not so sure.
There seems to be a change and, since I've never been 76 years old, it's difficult to know if that's simply me seeing the world through a different lens or a fundamental shift has taken place.
I suspect the latter, though I know it is common for folks of my dottering age to see the world detaching from our narrowing viewpoint.
One thing that never changes is our love of music and the desire of some to want better.
As stalwarts of the industry we should be asking ourselves what better looks like to those that haven't yet faced cataracts and tinnitus.
Whatcha think?
