Widening the sweet spot always costs something.
I understand the desire. No one wants the magic to disappear the moment they shift in their chair.
The physics are straightforward. A razor-sharp center image relies on precise arrival times and controlled reflections. The more we prioritize that single seat, the more focused and holographic the image becomes. Start diffusing and spreading energy to accommodate multiple positions, and some of that pinpoint specificity softens.
That doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It means it’s a choice.
If most of your listening is solitary and serious, don’t give up that ultimate position lightly. Dial in toe-in, refine speaker distance, and lock in that breathtaking center fill. Let it be extraordinary for you.
There’s no universal answer.
The right approach depends on how you actually use your system.
Be honest about your habits, and tune for the experience you value most.
