Accurate or engaging?

I’ve heard systems that measured beautifully yet left me cold: no air, little drive, no sense of the musicians reaching out.

Sometimes, that’s the difference between accuracy and engagement. 

One common culprit is over-damping. Components with excessive feedback or overly polite voicing can smooth things over so much that life goes with it. 

If your system isn't engaging, try adjusting speaker placement and, if that's not working, it might be time to look for new gear.
