On this day

December 25, 2021
 by Paul McGowan

When we are celebrating the time of year it’s always heart-warming to feel close to family and friends.

As much as we might like to consider ourselves as individuals, protected islands unto ourselves, the truth is we’re social creatures. We depend on others for our happiness and well being.

We’re community. Family.

On this day, special to many around the world, I hope you find a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

Let’s hope for a wonderful 2022.

  1. Last night I watched/listened to the Trans-Siberian orchestra dvd ( The ghosts of Christmas Eve). That was inspiring. Then I listened to my new SACD of Levelland. That brought me Joy. Merry Christmas everyone!

  2. A little snow on the ground.
    The coffee is ready,
    Some Holiday music is playing.
The dogs are now all snuggled around the listening chair.
A peaceful and relaxing day to all.

    Merry Christmas

  3. Here It’s 12am ish. The food is cooking. The family are here. The wine is open. The music is on.
Please spare a though for those less fortunate than ourselves on this day.
    Merry Xmas to everyone.
    David and family

  4. Wishing everyone a nice day and Happy Holidays from the US Gulf Coast…where it’s sunny and 70something degrees. I hope you have a COVID free holiday season.

    Merry Christmas Y’all

      1. LP, I’m not on the Audiogon forum. I even checked my password rolodex to see if I had ever created an account there and forgot. I’m glad whoever posted was informative though!

        1. Hmmm, sounds like someone pirated your handle. It happens.
When I search my own real name I pull up over a hundred identical sources.
None of them look like me, fortunately. As I think of it, I’m lucky I haven’t
been hauled off to jail in a case of mistaken identity. LOL 😎

  5. Christmas Eve the family dined on carnitas with rice and beans.

This Christmas Day we dine with friends new and old on chili and jalapeño cornbread.

Today need not be stressed or complex. May you all share today in good company, and a hearty meal meal.

    Feliz Navidad

Music is the bridge that connects us all and brings joy into our souls

    Merry Christmas to the entire
PS Audio Family across the world

  7. Happy holidays. We just watched The Hand of God, in bed. Decadence. Lovely movie. Now lunch, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, then another movie and a walk. Shabbat shalom.

    1. Steven, Just for something different try scrambled eggs, lumped crab meat and cream cheese ( I am not sure you have cream cheese over there, if you do it goes in last ).

After our Christmas meal I will watch the Packers play the Browns. Bring it on.

      1. Crab meat on the Sabbath? No shellfish in this house! Just watched the Queen (it’s a 3pm ritual – everyone watches) and booked for Sunday lunch in a posh London hotel. Off for a walk.

Enjoy the game – Doritos and a 6-pack?

I’m with Longplayer – hope the Webb telescope gets off the ground and discovers the meaning of the universe. Is it named after Beatrice Webb?

        1. Steven,
          James Webb, who worked at NASA…as if you didn’t know;
          you cheeky monkey you.
Australia should have ‘The Ashes’ wrapped-up before the
boats arrive in Constitution Bay 😀

          1. Are you sure it’s not in recognition of Captain Matthew Webb, the first person to swim the English Channel in 1875, the 21mile crossing between England and France and a feat not repeated for another 36 years. Celebrated on boxes of matches throughout the U.K.
Yeah, okay, not very likely 😉

      2. If I were up in NYC right now I would be at Barney Greengrass having a “Set Up” one of my favorite breakfasts.

It starts off with an open face Bagel schmeared with Cream Cheese, layered on top with thin sliced Nova Lox and thin sliced Tomato and and finished off with thin sliced Red Onion and Capers.

Unfortunately their Coffee tastes like Battery Acid but what the heck.

  8. Today, I’m grateful for the successful launch of the Webb telescope, along with the continued prayer that the knowledge and images it brings us will unite mankind in greater awareness of our common humanity and the vulnerability of our tiny planet.

    Peace be with you, all.

      1. Yes, and a million miles to travel before that. But like commercial airlines, take-offs and landings are the most difficult part of the journey. Glad it’s on its way. We can celebrate again when it unfolds and transmits.

        1. In the meantime there’s only one way that China’s government wants to “unite mankind” & they will stop at nothing to do so, unfortunately.
          Let’s pray for a miracle.

          1. It should not be a miracle, but rather the forces of good against the forces of evil. Say what you will about him, but former President Trump at least saw them for what they are: the enemy!

        2. and 380 some odd possible mission issues that could go wrong before they can claim success.

This is a truly cooperative project by so many nations in this world.

All of this is happening while Bezos, Branson and to a lesser extent Musk are selling joy rides to make More Money from the wealthy who want a cheap thrill. It probably would be more fun to ride the Wild Mouse at Coney Island for a couple of bucks then on January 1 join the Polar Bears Club and run into the ocean in your bathing suits and swim around in the freezing water.

  9. Thank you to all of you and a very Merry Christmas.
I have really enjoyed my time here, so thanks for having me.

Audio and Family are my #1’s these days. 🙂

  10. Although it’s been said, many times, many ways, MERRY CHRISTMAS to You (and Yours)!!!

ps: As a gift to all, insert known melody yourself (trust me, you really don’t want to hear Me sing it) 😉
