Safety

Ever notice how we all tend to gravitate towards the safe solution? It's something I am certainly consistent with. We are more comfortable following Stereophile's Recommended Component list (just to be safe), we keep our preamp's balance control right in the middle (safer, in case we're wrong), we use the recommended filter setting on our PWD (just to be safe). I am sure there are many more examples. Being safe is easy but uneventful. I challenge myself each day to get out of my comfort zone at least once. Sometimes it's rewarding, other times not. These daily posts are a result of challenging myself. This afternoon I am going to try the Maggies with the tweeters on the outside. I am very uncomfortable doing this; I am convinced it'll be a waste of time because it's safe to do what has worked so well for me in the past. Here's the deal. When I try this, I may fail, but I usually discover something else unexpected from the exercise. If you have the time, try challenging yourself today. Let me know how it goes.
