Musical chairs

In yesterday's post, I discussed the two main methods of speaker setup: straight ahead and far and wide.

There is another, simpler, way of changing the systems presentation: that is by simply moving your seat.

It might sound trivial but moving your listening position closer and farther from the speakers—even by fractions of inches—can have a dramatic impact on tonal balance and imaging.

The old game of musical chairs might just have a new meaning.
