Lunch with Chris
PS Audio's senior loudspeaker designer, Chris Brunhaver, is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever known. His mastery with respect to loudspeakers, acoustics, and design is, in my experience, somewhat off the charts. While we were in Illinois setting up FR30 speaker set number One, our amiable host, Greg and his wife, set out a lovely lunch of fresh bagels, cream cheese, lox, and fruit with homemade cake for dessert. Yum. No sooner had we gathered for this feast than, of course, the subject turned again to loudspeakers and their designs. I couldn't resist videoing the conversation which included subjects like matrix bracing, how passive radiators work, and why most of them don't sound good. We also learn a bit more in-depth reasoning of our move away from a separate midbass coupler, what it takes to make a low distortion, high excursion woofer system with over 50 pounds of magnets driving them, and a few ruminations on why the FR30's planar midrange sits above its planar tweeter. Come join Chris, Mike, Me, and Greg for a lunch discussion on speakers. You can watch the video here.
