I don't often just reprint someone's forum post but today is going to be an exception. This post was beautifully written and detailed. It captures the true spirit of what keeps us going at PS Audio.
At last, my new M800’s are here! I can confirm that Paul was absolutely right; they make beautiful music with the MartinLogan CLX Art speakers, paired with ML’s Dynamo 12 subwoofers.
Similar to my experience when I went from the BHK 300 amps to the BHK 600’s, the step up to the M800’s is not subtle at all - it’s revelatory, and frankly, probably, more so than that previous upgrade. Not only can I hear more detail (and I’m genuinely alarmed at HOW MUCH more detail - as people always write, I’m hearing things I never heard before in tracks I’ve known for years), but there is overall a more cohesive, balanced, natural, believablepresentation at any volume level. And I echo straightwire’s comment that the bass is deeper, tighter, and more correctly defined. Instruments and vocals are more pinpoint in their location, with less smearing overall.
I don’t really know electronics, and as a layman, I’m guessing that it’s all of that added power in class A bias that is giving the sound a more meaty, tonally rich presentation - more than the vacuum tubes in the M600’s could provide. Before obtaining the M800’s, I always had the preconception that only vacuum tubes could provide such warmth - and I was completely wrong.
WELL DONE Darren Myers, Paul McGowan, and the whole PS Audio team. Thank you!!
