Do you know the moment?
A track comes on, the system locks in, and for a few minutes the gear disappears entirely. No speakers. No room. Just the performance, present and dimensional, as if the musicians decided to show up in person.
That moment is the whole point—at least for me.
You?
It doesn't happen because the frequency response is flat or the noise floor is low, though those things help. It happens because every element in the chain—recording, electronics, speakers, room, listener—aligned well enough that the brain stopped processing and started believing.
It's a narrow target. Most systems approach it occasionally. A few reach it reliably. The ones that do share something: they were built by people who had heard that moment themselves and couldn't stop chasing it.
The gear is the means.
That moment is the measure.
