If we indulge too much in any one thing like drinking, partying, or eating, the negative impacts stay with us the next day. The same can be said for overindulging in technology's successes and failures.
For those who rallied behind the 80s, 90s, and 2000s digital bashing party, the residual hangover hangs on like a permanent scar.
The old chestnut, "once bitten, twice shy," comes to mind. Once we form a solid opinion of a technology it's almost impossible to shake it off. Regardless of progress or results, how many of us aren't still a bit wary of digital's former shortcomings like glare, harshness, bite, and loss of analog resolution?
What I see is that those new to the field come into our world without a lot of preconceived notions and hangups about technology. Their fresh view gives them a freedom many of us don't share but wish we had.
Like the fictional character that wakes up after a bout with amnesia, I sometimes wish I could simply wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
Hangover free.
