I am writing this note near the end of June, but I thought I'd save it for the 4th of July—a day of fireworks—because that's what it is.
Once in a while, I am treated to something few on Earth ever get to experience: the birthing of a new product that is so extraordinary as to set one's hair on fire. That experience just happened to me this morning, and I am still reeling from it.
How to say it? I think perhaps I will do something daring—something that'll likely set a few on edge, but it's just simply the way it happened.
Let me share with you a note I just sent to the unit's designer, Darren Myers:
Darren,
You animal!
Just finally listened to the finished prototype of the PMG phono after all it's been through.
I put on an old Mercury recording of Janos Starker. MC stage sounds great, definitely a huge step up from Stellar and the other references here.
And then I switched to the Transimpedance input. OMG. Ridiculous. It is sooooooo superior to anything I have ever heard as to make me crazy.
This is witchcraft.
Vinyl has never sounded like this. Never. I don't believe anyone's ever had this experience.
Chris Hardin and a customer were there when we made the switch. They were both floored.
Chris put on Fleetwood Rumors, so I had to leave the room because if I have to hear that again, I’ll kill myself. That said, Chris came out shaking his head. “It blows away the digital version to the point I can’t listen to it anymore”.
Holy crap, man. What magic have you wrought?

That's it. What more can be said except that we won't be able to ship this for many months, but I just had to share.
Happy 4th!!
