One of the cool things about customization of equipment is the fact no one else in the world is enjoying the same level and degree of sound quality as the customizer.
Better, worse, just not the same.
We recently received for warranty an older PS Audio preamplifier filled inside with bits of cork. Yup. Cork. I can't for the life of me imagine how cork will impact sound quality inside a preamplifier but without a doubt it certainly qualifies as unique.
Or folks who flip their equipment upside down for better sonics. Or grounding boxes. Or fuses whose cost can approach that of the equipment itself.
How cool is it that our systems and rooms and musical tastes are all one of a kind? Mine sounds different than yours.
In a world of sameness our musical reproduction systems stand out as pillars of individuality.
