Does the quest for audio nirvana at times feel more like a game with winners and losers than a passion for creating magical moments? Maybe in our own systems, we have played the game and decided one format or equipment type has won the sonic battle over another. I am not much of a sports guy but I think I understand our innate desire to compete. Yet, should coming out on top be our goal? I just want to dig deeper into the music, get more engaged with the sound, lose the system and forget it's a reproduction. There's surely satisfaction in winning the race for best sound and system, but perhaps more value in crafting magic.
