How does one pull back from the entrenched to give new kit a chance?
If you've lived much of your life in snow country you're likely to have always purchased a high-clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle to get through winter. If you then move to sunny California or Florida, it might be hard to pull back on those habits and get a convertible.
In the same vein, if you've set up your system in a small room and then move to bigger digs—or changed your source from vinyl to digital, CDs to ripped, physical media to streaming services—will you start with the same set of assumptions that served you so well the first time around?
I would suggest you will likely start there because it's the obvious choice. However, once your journey towards the new has begun, you'll be best served if you are open to other paths.
Our past experiences are great starting points, but those that can pull back to see the bigger picture often win.
