I was cleaning my office Sunday and that got me thinking about process. When I decide to roll my sleeves up and dig in, it's big time, not just small changes. And while this works well for a cleanup job, it isn't always the best practice for stereo systems.
We just launched a new operating system for DirectStream and plenty of owners are installing and enjoying the improvements it brings. But, as I mentioned in yesterday's post, it's a good idea to sit back and absorb the changes before making more. As obsessive types (and aren't we all?), many hear something better and immediately wonder if there isn't more. I am no different.
My advice is simple. One change at a time. Put a new cable in the system? That's great, play with it, learn it, then move on.
Too often we like to swallow big gulps of change hoping to increase the level beyond that which we expect. It's natural, but I would recommend baby steps.
