One at a time

When we think about making changes to our system, we need to be careful to make them one at a time. The process is certainly a bit tedious, but the benefits are many. Too often I have watched folks make multiple major changes to their systems and then scratch their heads when they don't get the results they were looking for. And no wonder; there's a lot for your senses to process and then categorize into useful references. If you have a group of bigger changes to make (swapping cables, rearranging equipment, speaker tweaking), do them one at a time and then evaluate. Sit and absorb those changes before moving onto the next. It's just too easy to get lost in the changes. The only deviation from this rule would be a complete redo of the setup. If things just aren't sounding right, I might first try lots of small changes to see if I can snap the system focus back into place. If that fails, I often times start fresh with a new build. I remove all the sound abfusers, clean the place, roll up my sleeves and start with the basics of system setup. Hmmm. The basics of system setup might make for a good series of posts. Anyone interested? Love to get your feedback.
