Bone conduction

In my ongoing search for the perfect wireless headphones, I have made several observations.
  • I can't and won't tolerate anything sticking inside my ear
  • I don't want over-ear headphones for outdoor use
  • They have to sound good
  • They cannot block the other sounds around me, except on loud passages
To date, I have purchased and rejected four pairs of different devices. Then a new style came on my radar. Bone conduction. Nothing in or over the ears. Instead, sound conducts through the bones nearest my ears. Seems ridiculous. But maybe…? I sometimes marvel at my level of gullibility. I want to believe something, so I do. $150 and they not only don't work but for the life of me, I cannot fathom the thought process of the inventors. If there are any extraneous sounds they overwhelm what little tinny music creeps in through conduction, because they neither cover nor insert into your ears. Their solution? Ear plugs! No kidding. Included in the box. If that weren't bad enough, music doesn't sound like music—rather more like a tin can and string. What's the point? Maybe my bones are too old to properly conduct. However, my brain's not too addled to ask for a refund.
