How To Update Bridge II
Bridge II is built into DirectStream Junior, and available as a network streaming option for DirectStream and PerfectWave DAC customers.
Bridge II, with the latest firmware installed, can become a Roon Endpoint – making any of our DACs with Bridge II installed, Roon Ready. It can also work with the European streaming service Qobuz, and the internet radio service VTuner through the MConnect Control app (available for IOS and Android). Spotify Connect is now available as well and requires the Spotify App to be installed on your IOS or Android device, or through the Spotify webpage.
Roon is available on a monthly rental basis or for a single lifetime purchase by going here. Roon must be installed on a computer (Windows or MAC) sharing the same home network as Bridge II. You will also need an iPad or Android tablet for its control.
Instructions for updating Bridge II
DirectStream DAC
-
- If you plan on using Roon as your music manager, make sure you have the latest version of Roon on your computer and connected to the same home network the DAC is connecting to through the Ethernet cable (details not covered here). If you aren’t using Roon, ignore this step.
- Make sure you have the latest version of DirectStream Firmware (RedCloud or later).
- Turn off your power amplifier during the updating process – just to be safe.
- Make sure that you have a good Ethernet connection to DirectStream. This requires internet access, so make sure the router your Ethernet is connected to has internet access. Then select your Bridge II as the input.
- Display the version screen by touching the gear in the upper left hand corner of the touch screen.
-
- The version screen will show the current version of Bridge code. The most current version is 3.6.17. Your version may be different than that which is pictured.
- Go back to the main bridge screen by pressing the arrow icon in the lower left corner.
- On the main bridge screen press the green network button.
- On the bottom of the screen you will see Firmware Updates. It will show N/A if no update is available. It will show the version of the update if there is one available. If there is an update ready, a button will also show. If you want to start the update press the button.
- Once Pressed the screen will show the bridge is updating. This process can take up to 30 minutes. When finished the DirectStream will reboot. Do not interrupt the update process or disconnect the power supply to the unit.
- Once finished the DirectStream will show version 3.6.17 for the Bridge II.
DirectStream jr DAC
- If you plan on using Roon as your music manager, make sure you have the latest version of Roon on your computer and connected to the same home network the DAC is connecting to through the Ethernet cable (details not covered here). If you aren’t using Roon, ignore this step.
- Also, make sure that you have a good Ethernet connection to the DS Jr. This requires internet access, so make sure the router your Ethernet is connected to has internet access.
- Press and hold the black select button (to the immediate left of the unit’s display screen) on the front of the DS Jr until you see the balance menu appear on the screen, then press the button several times until you get to the firmware version screen. It will look like this:
- Download Huron from the PS Audio download page. Unzip it and copy the contents of the folder (not the folder) to a clean USB thumb drive. Insert the USB drive into the back panel of the DS Jr. Power cycle the DAC using the rear panel power switch. Now wait while the logo light blinks and the unit completes initialization.
- There’s no need to check the version at this point but if interested, the Huron version will look similar to this. Note that the digits underneath Huron may be different than what is shown.
- Now access the setup menu again, and navigate to the bridge status update page. Again, your Bridge version should be 3.3.3.:
- Press the front panel select button (to the immediate left of the unit’s display screen) for a couple seconds. This will start the update process. Do not interrupt the update process or disconnect the power supply to the unit. When completed the version screen will update to look like this:
PerfectWave DAC
- If you plan on using Roon as your music manager, make sure you have the latest version of Roon on your computer and connected to the same home network the DAC is connecting to through the Ethernet cable (details not covered here). If you aren’t using Roon, ignore this step.
- Make sure you have the latest version of PerfectWave DAC Firmware.
- Make sure that you have a good Ethernet connection to the PerfectWave DAC. This requires internet access, so make sure the router your Ethernet is connected to has internet access.
- Press the home button on the bridge touch screen.
- Press the Green Edit button on the Input Select screen.
- If there is not an update it will show the current version and no button.
- If there is an update available you will see at the bottom of the Bridge setup page the new version of firmware and the current version of firmware and an update button.
- If you want to update press the update button.
- The PerfectWave DAC will now show updating. This process can take up to 30 minutes. When finished the PerfectWave DAC will automatically reboot. Do not interrupt the update process or disconnect the power supply to the unit.
When we try to do this we’re seeing 1.2.1 as the current version, a green network button but n/a for update available. Given how old 1.2.1 is I doubt this is true. Is there something I can run to check whether the network really *is* working?
I’ve read hints somewhere about downloading the update onto a clean USB and inserting it in the Bridge’s USB slot. Is this possible and are there instructions?
Should I be sending this to support instead?
Wow. Just wow. Finally having my DS working with Roon is just superb. Haven’t done any direct comparisons between it, the Totaldac, and the NADAC, but Torreys sure sounds good.
Kudos to the PSA team!
Hi
I have a same problem.
I ‘ve got latest firm ware(firmware PWD 2.9.7 Roon Ready and Bridge update) and installed.
Bridge setup window ( green network Button), Version is N/A.
Is it wrong or not upgrade? How can I check upgrade and know current version?
PS Audio PWD is can’t not found by Roon 1.2.
Look at the PWD section above. In section 6 in the picture it shows the bridge version 2.7.11.
What is your Bridge version?
If you have version 2.7.11 or greater, check that you don’t have a firewall interfearing. Turn off the firewall and see if this fixes your issue. If it does check the Roon Forum to see which ports need to be opened for Roon to function.

I am having the same issue here with my PWD mk2 – just updated to 2.9.7 Roon Ready, my bridge II has the old 1.2.1 firmware and there is no update button to click. Is there a link to download the firmware and upgrade it via the SD card method?
Thanks!
Will
Never mind, the DHCP was red but showing IP and said network connected. Pressed it again to green to retrieve new IP, restarted and it’s working now. Thanks!
dear team,
I had same problem above. I have torreys installed on my directstream dac and bridge 2 plugged in. it shows me bridge version 1.2.1 and none update available. How can I do? I tried also to download the update.ub form the website and make same process than dsd update. it doesn’t work.
please help me.
Same problem here. I have a new DirectStream that shows “green” network connected with a good IP address, Subnet, and primary DNS. Note that the Gateway and the secondary DNS show as 0.0.0.0, which may or may not be a problem. I can connect DAC via a Mac Mini Roon Bridge using USB, but cannot connect DAC using Ethernet direct to Roon Core. I tried updating the Bridge II using the SD Card, but that dos not work. On DAC, n/a shows for firmware available. The bridge is 1.25, Firmware is 2.02., Bootloader is 1.13, FPGA is 0.120, USB 0.0..33, and Rev is 0140. Any thoughts?
I have a DirectStream DAC. I tried updating the Bridge 2 but something seems to be wrong. On DAC shows Unit ID IS 081261, Firmware is 2.02., Bootloader is 1.13, FPGA is 0.120, USB 0.0..33, Rev is 0140, and Bridge is 0.0.0., Press Setup to display ” Reset Bridge “. Please help me
Similar problem to LIM BYUNG BAE trying to use the Bridge II
The following info on my DirectStream DAC:
Huron
Unit ID: 1062234, FPGA:0.120
Boot loader: 1.13, USB 00.33
Firmware: 2.0.2, Rev:0140
Bridge 0.0.0
Your assistance greatly appreciated.
Hola Nacho, did you try reverting to Torreys, then going back to Huron?
Hello, I tried reverting to Torreys and back to Huron. Still the BridgeII is not selectable even after trying to install the Bridge II firmware update. When trying to install the BridgeII firmware the unit makes a “click” sound and goes directly to initialize mode, my guess is that firmware is not being installed.
For the static IP instructions, I suggest doing the Mac instructions after the PC instructions. Maybe 1. Pc 2. Mac. It was a little confusing seeing all the Mac menu items.
I too have the bridge at 0.0.0 what’s going on? Anyone got this sorted?
I had no problem following the directions, and the update took about 4 minutes.
I had no issues with the latest Bridge II firmware.
My DS does not access to internet, could you share link for me to down the file so I could use SD card to upgrade my Bridge II? Thanks
Just updated to Snowmass on my DS, but can’t update Bridge II. It says it has the latest, but it’s 3.3.3 I am able to connect to the bridge and play songs from a NAS. So Snowmass installation appears ok. Also, of course, the bridge II icon is green.
I have rebooted a number of times, with and without the sd card in. Also I loaded MconnectHD on my IPAD. Although it shows the Bridge II and it’s IP, which is the same as on the DS display, it says “NOTICE Renderer does not respond”.
Does anyone know how I can update the Bridge II please? Thanks
No doubt the Bridge II update instructions are overly complicated and a tad outdated. I tried everything but could not get my Bridge II to update.
Blazing a different path I contacted the maker of the card.
Conversdigital claimed the card is now updated using the MControl Connect app. They recommended deleting your current app and download an install a fresh copy of the MC Connect app … then re-run the device setup.
OK Done!
I selected Bridge II under “Play To”.
Selected “Player” then the setup icon on upper left. Ran “Device Setup” … and like magic the “software update icon” was in view. Two minutes later my Bridge II was updated to 3.6.17. … having never touched my Direct Stream DAC. Nice!
Next add your “user name” & “password for Tidal Streaming and I was back in business.
The DirectStream DAC with Snowmass and Tidal MQA streaming has set a new digital paradigm for me.
“Bravo” to each an everyone who made this all happen!!!
I did as above but it still wouldn’t update. Luckily I found a link to the latest update version. So I downloaded it and then used the MConnect app to install it. Success!
Why is it so hard? It would be so much easier if the updates are included on the PS Audio site.
Thanks to those who provide links.
Michael – where did you find that link?
Sorry Mike for the delay. I hadn’t checked this post until now.
This is the link I used. There’s a link section.

The Bridge II is really a terrible product. I have had it for just over a year but haven’t been able to use it properly, as it keeps disappearing while it’s being used. Now, for over six months, it doesn’t appear at all. My DAC says bridge is “None”. Very frustrating.
Why don’t you contact service so we can get that fixed for you?
Good day!
Over a year ago acquired DirectStream jr. I can’t update Bridge 2. it didn’t work and doesn’t work at all. Of course, I do not see it on the DHCP server. DirectStream jr network check fails 0.0.0.0. IP address. It makes no sense to enter static, nothing changes. I rolled back to YALE, then put Huron, DirectStream jr does not see the network, does not update Bridge 2. I did everything according to the instructions. Snowmass 2.02 says there is no Bridge.
Grateful to any help
respectfully
Konstantin
i have had all of the above problems.it seems that bridge 2 is terrible for us humans.the issue i have now is that every time i go to play a song it now says ” delay in streaming or unsupported file format” any help anybody? thanks
