Design

In the AQ Firebird, Perfect-Surface Technology is applied to extreme-purity silver to provide unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion, while Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation ensures critical signal-pair geometry. Noise reduction is critical to a cable's performance. In the Firebird, an included RF Trap ensures that radio frequency noise will not be induced into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements.

Application

Not all HDMI cables can transmit the full 18Gbps of data required to optimize today’s HDMI 2.0 equipment, but AudioQuest Firebird HDMI cables are guaranteed to have the 18Gbps required for all possible HDMI data streams.

Perfect-Surface Technology applied to extreme-purity silver provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by the grain boundaries that exist within any metal conductor, nearly eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other coppers.
While it’s easy to accomplish 100% shield coverage, it’s far more difficult to prevent captured Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment’s ground reference. That requires AQ’s Noise-Dissipation System (NDS). Traditional shield systems typically absorb and then drain noise/RF energy to component ground, modulating and distorting the critical “reference” ground plane, which in turn causes a distortion of the signal. NDS’s alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics “shield the shield,” absorbing and reflecting most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to ground.
All conductors in the PerfectWave AC Series are spool tested at the factory for directionality and wound into the power cables in the same direction. This attention to detail provides a remarkable coherence and special accuracy to the sound of connected equipment. Connectors are equally important. PerfectWave AC Series connectors are built out of a solid block of high copper content brass, and then polished to remove any surface irregularities. Attaching the conductors to the connectors employs two forms of welding to fuse the conductor to the machined prong, creating a perfect bond.
