Day late!

I’ve been a bit overloaded in the keeping up with the email category as of late and therefore missed yesterday’s Cassette Day! Who knew? We’ve been discussing limited bandwidth analog mediums like LP’s and tape recorders, and honestly I never considered the cassette tape as even in the running.

Clearly there’s a group of folks who still love the tubby bass, the rolled off highs, the sound of cassette tapes. This is probably stretching back aways but certainly I went through a phase of having cassette tapes but I’ll admit it was only for the car. Of course, I also had an 8-track in the car before that – you remember those? If a song was just long enough it would fade out in the middle and then restart after the track changed. Those were the days!

Glad they are over and we survived.

  1. I have 4 high end cassette decks, and all of them are total KILLER!!!! 1) Nakamichi 1000 ZXL; 2) Luxman K-05; 3) B&O 9000 & 4) Sony WMD-6C. With the first 3, and TDK MAX-G C-90 in the Metal position, you can’t tell the record from the tape!!!!! The Sony is only is only slightly less good!!! I’ve had these 4 for EVER, and they STILL work GREAT!!!
