The front wall of audio

  1. Kind of like stage directions vs. house. Maybe because you also stand up in front and speak to audiences a lot, so the front wall is behind you…?

I think also for those who listen in surround or have HT systems, you for sure wouldn’t call the place stuff is coming from behind you the front wall. It’s like you’re in the orchestra hall, and the rear wall is behind you, and the stage in front. If I were onstage more, I would feel different ; )

  2. It seems to me that in the world of high-end audio we only refer to ‘front wall’ or ‘back wall’ in the context of system setup, and even then only in the context of speaker positioning. So the issue boils down to the relationship of the walls vis-a-vis the speakers. From that perspective it makes more sense to me to use the terms ‘front’ and ‘back’ as they pertain to the loudspeakers’ view of the room.

  3. Hi Paul! First, Let me say how much I thoroughly appreciate your efforts in bringing these videos and their fantastic content to us, your customers. Your “Ask Paul” videos have become my daily first cup of coffee companion. My wife will sometimes look at me watching, and she will say, “Time for your Mr. Rogers video?” with a big smile. Yes, you have that soothing voice. Your “Why you left PS Audio” video resonated deeply with me and some many hard issues I am facing myself. It completely touched me, and I know it took a lot of courage to share those difficult memories and details, thank you. On the question of the intro music and drone fly-by, it needs to go away. When you watch these every day like so many of us, it gets to be a bit grating. I think if you just opened to you with the “Ask Paul” artwork and said your welcome, it would be great. The parting shot with everyone waving is cool. Still hoping you will answer the question I submitted last month regarding proper speaker height as it is the only part of speaker placement you have not touched on. I have Monitor Audio PL100’s and the stands seem short, and don’t know if I need to raise them up, or just tilt them back. Keep up the great work you and your team are doing. Cheers, Sam
