  1. There are far more sophisticated „room-correction“ systems out there today than the simple Dirac! I recommend to have a closer look to Trinnov Audio. And there are nice active (!) bass absorbers (sized as normal subwoofers) from PSI Audio, Switzerland. Don’t forget room treatment for both, floor and ceiling. And avoid having the speakers positioned too close to the walls. Same for the listening spot.

Although I do not use any digital room correction system or software I agree to Paul that midrange and highs cannot be really corrected since all the fine amplitude variations over frequency scale are too complicated for dealing with them. I am sure the original sound will alter when done. For the bass portion it may be possible to find some dips and resonances which may be corrected. And the human hearing is not so sensitive to changes in the bass region except harmonics will be produced by the correction system.

    1. This post of today totally ignores that the correct behavior in the time domain is even more crucial than a flat SPL-over-frequency curve! Evolution has optimized our ear-brain-system for being most sensitive for phase issues. It’s a shame that this aspect is overlooked by the majority of loudspeaker-designers. The time domain is the core aspect which is corrected and optimized by correction-systems from Trinnov Audio and from Prof. Edgar Choueiri (BACCH-SP).

      2. This looks like a system designed (and likely priced), for commercial spaces.
        Likely not the average living room or even an audiophile’s purpose-built listening room.

        However, it looks like cool tech.

  3. I did the second option Paul talked about. But I use Focis Fidelity for my digital room correction with Roon convolution filter. Only do it for 1khz and down. Together with proper placement and room treatments makes for a great combo of sound.

    I do use AMARRA IRC and it makes a good noticeable correction
    It shall be taken into account that I take the measurements with the Micro after locating the speakers according to instruction in the guide, so what I correct is the remaking problems after a correct location of speakers.
    The hardware DSP corrections in my view have the problem of introducing a ADC and DAC and both computing process shall be a very high end in order not to damage quality of the signal
    I wonder how in ROON I could it be introduced a DSP for slight roon correction
