  1. I’m not into hero-worship, but this man is a complete star of the analogue. I enjoy one of his wonderful cartridges. His 20% replacement policy is the best value deal in audio.

  2. I ran a Grado cartridge for 20 years of occasional use. My 30 year old Rogers speakers get pulled into use sometimes to remind me that my current speakers,
although good, don’t better them in every area.

  3. It’s been more then 23 years sense I’ve spun records on a turntable.
The last one I had, was a JVC belt driven turntable.
But just because I worked for Cirket City back then, I got an employee discount on both the turntable, and the cartrage.
I didn’t understand at the time, when I was told that, the cartrage is studio grade.
It sounded ok, but I thought to myself, I’ve heard better sounding cartrages before.
I still wonder today, what do they mean, when they say, “studio grade?”
Are they talking about cartrages that are good enough to use in radio stations?
Or do they mean, they’re good enough to use in recording studios?
    Just asking, that’s all.

    1. JP,
‘Studio grade’ meas industrial…built stronger than the ones made for home audio.
DJ’s use to use them too.

Btw, do you still maintain that Scott McGowan told you that
the PS Audio – ‘Sprout’ integrated amplifier is NOT made in China?
I think that you were lying about that & you thought that you could
get away with it…tsk, tsk, tsk.

    1. AIGaudio,
I already know this fact; I’ve known it for a long time.
It’s ‘John Price’ who is lying about Scott McGowan
supposedly telling him that the ‘Sprout’ is not made in China.
He posted this lie about 3 weeks ago here on ‘Ask Paul’
      & he has not retracted his lie nor has he apologised for lying;
this is very bad form as far as I am concerned.

      1. Hey FAT RAT!!!!

#1. I TOLD YOU WHAT THEY TOLD ME.
#2. BUT SENSE YOU THINK I’M LIEING,,, DO YOU KNOW WHERE THAT AMP WAS DESIGNED????
IF YOU DON’T,,, THEN SHUT UP!!!
AND FYI,,,, THAT $250 AMP YOU POINTED ME TO,,, DOES NOT RECEIVE RAW DSD FILES AND OR SIGNALS….
SO YOU TELL ME,,, “HOW DOES THAT AMP BEATS THE PANTS OFF OF THE SPROUT???”
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR…
AND THAT IN DEED,,,, IS A TRUE FACT!!!
BTW, YOU NEED A GOOD SLAP IN YOUR SMART MOUTH!!!
EITHER THAT, OR A GOOD KICK IN THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS!!!

        1. John Price,
          Hey angry man, try this:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEASsQ06SCQ

          Who’s “they”?
You never said “they” originally; you said “Scott McGowan”
          Now you’re changing the facts.
It doesn’t matter where it was designed.
You were talking about where it was made
          & that’s a completely different subject.
Stop changing the topic, now that you’ve been busted.

I’m sorry Paul but this guy constantly talks a lot of rubbish
here on ‘Ask Paul’& someone should call him out on it,
as it’s been going on for wa-a-a-ay too long.

          Peace, love & mung beans.

      2. Boys, boys, boys. Jeez. Can we take it down a few notches? John wasn’t “lying” because he believed what he was saying was true. That’s hardly a lie.

He was incorrect in what he wrote.

Let’s try and keep the boil down to a gentle simmer if you please. 🙂 It’s Sunday.

  4. For some reason I am only getting a HTTPV link which seems to be in invalid link to the video

On another note, I have a sprout 100 and wondering if upgrading to the Stella strata would be worth it with my ELAC Debut two speakers..
The sprout by the way beat the pants off of any other integrated amplifier I’ve owned in the past.

  5. What is wrong with this website? I deleted my comment because I forgot to check the box to follow up comments that used to be automatic and when I go to post the message again it won’t let me because it says duplicate post. It cannot recognize that I deleted the post and it’s not a duplicate? Stupid artificial intelligence creating stressful situations for humans.

      1. Hey Joe. I believe you need to check the reply box only once per post subject. It’s my understanding that once checked, you’ll receive by email every reply for that day’s post. The next day’s post starts fresh. Let me know if that doesn’t work.

        1. I have to get used to checking the box each time because I liked it the way it was when I got automatic email replies without checking anything. Thanks.

            1. Yes Paul. All I had to do is check once that I wanted follow up replies in my email and any blogs I participate in I would get the follow up replies. Especially replies to my posts. Blogs I didn’t participate in I wouldn’t get any email replies. As it is now I won’t get any email replies unless I remember to check the box each time I participate on the blog.

  6. Everything degrades over time including CD transport parts and human beings. The rubber suspension should last a long time if it’s stored in the right climate. Longer than you think. Eventually it can become stiff. Another bigger problem is with the glue aging that holds the cantilever to the suspension. All of the parts of the stylus could be rebuilt by Soundsmith. Some manufacturers still provide replacements for some of their older cartridges and there are some good after market manufacturers that make them to OEM specs and others that build much less expensive non spec after market replacements.
