  1. Ok Paul, for the benefit of all the rest of the aging audiophiles, do you happen to recall what brand and model were the hearing aids that Bascom used? I have tried the Phonak top of line aid and the audio quality is abysmal at best. I have to remove them to listen to music which is a huge waste of money. I can still perceive audio nuances, but at a louder volume which annoys my better half. Did Bascam remove his aids during serious listening sessions? Thanks for your contribution to all of us fellow music lovers.

    1. I also wear hearing aids and totally agree with what Paul has said about how some people can hear things as others cannot. When I was a teenager in the 80’s I started my venture into the audio world and also learned how to play 11 different instruments playing in music groups and traveled on tours. As my hearing loss accelerated while playing musical pieces in concert bands I was subconsciously training my ears for listening to detail. It is true I believe I may not hear everything but enjoy my music listening sessions differently than others as I cherish the detail in music passages. Heck!! I even had the opportunity to listen to PS Audio’s IRS V and thoroughly enjoyed its detail and was blown away by its soundstage. Thank you Paul, enjoying your book 99% True.

I wear Phonak top model don’t know exact model but yes... expensive. Could have bought an amp for what they cost
