    1. Indeed; RR is $7500 for a one-meter pair. 'WEL Signature' is AQ's most-expensive IC cable. Paul's 50-foot pair would retail for $48,540 if I did my arithmetic correctly. AQ has four IC cables with solid-silver conductors; the least-expensive is 'Wind' which retails for 'only' $2000 for a one-meter pair.

But one doesn't have to spend that for excellent solid-silver-conductor cable. I'm using long runs of Neotec UP-OCC-silver-conductor cable that sounds EXCELLENT. Currently Sonic Craft sells Neotec's NEI-2002 IC cable that uses solid 22g. 'Pure Silver' conductors, FEP ('teflon') insulation, etc. for $27 per foot. A 50-foot pair of balanced cable made of that and using excellent Neotec XLR connectors would cost less than $3K. Expensive? Certainly. Worth it? Only the person using it can decide that. I do know (1) the differences in cable's sound is audible even to this tin-eared audiofool and (2) excellent-sounding cable is an essential part of an excellent-sounding system.

Isn't it wonderful that we have SO many excellent products from which to choose!

  1. The real question is not which cable sounds better given limited funds. But rather, given those limited funds, do you spend your money on say a better amplifier, DAC, etc...?
