  1. You don’t seem to like USB either Paul. Why is Ethernet better than USB? My DAC that connects to USB actually disengages the soundcard in my computer and takes over the show. What about Bluetooth? Is that better quality than WiFi? I have three 24 bit DAC’s, a USB, a WiFi, and a Bluetooth all by audioengine and they all sound pretty darn good.

    1. You’re right, Joe, but I am not picking on USB. It’s just the noisiest communication path available (because it is two-way).

If you use something like the Matrix that can help lower the noise but still, you are communicating back and forth with the computer.

So, to be clear, it’s noisy computers I don’t like. USB just connects the two.

Ethernet is a 1-way communication with a computer and for the most part is isolated.

Bluetooth sucks. Bandwidth limited and compromised.

      WiFi is cool.

      1. Ok so I will sell the Bluetooth and keep the WiFi. Though I have to say the Bluetooth does sound good. I’m keeping the USB too because it has a headphone jack with volume control and it beats the headphone jack in my computer. Audioengine claims that their unit disengages the soundcard built into my computer so they have addressed the noise problem and the unit gets good reviews. Also the USB doesnt need to be plugged in an AC outlet which comes handy on the go. All the units have RCA outputs to hook up to my vintage gear.
