Lady’s and gentle men, you should keep this one thing in mind about speakers.
Not all speaker cabinets are made alike.
Some are rear ported.
Those, you shouldn’t put too close to the wall behind them.
Because if you do, you’ll get that baffle affect that Paul was talking about.
Other speakers are either sealed, and or ported from either the bottom, or the front.
Now those, you can put those real close to the wall, if you want.
But there is no baffle affect associated with those at all.
But if your speakers are ported from the bottom, you mite want to put those up on spikes.
But you want them to be anywhere between 1 to 3feet high up off the floor.
Granted some speakers that are ported come with port plugs to plug the ports in order to get rid of some of the bass.
But that trick doesn’t always work.
But about the placement of the TV, I’m with Paul on that one.
Go on ahead, and hang it on the wall.
But if your speakers were designed to be some distance away from the wall, well then, pull them out from the wall!
My TV monitor is in a different room to my audio rig.
Problem solved 🙂
Nice fat move!! I agree that is how it should. Limit any kind of distraction, especially a visual one to encourage the utmost concentration in your sonics. 😉
Pushing my TV as close to the wall as possible opposed to out close to where the front speaker baffles are created a huge inprovement in the sound quality. The sound was more 3 dimensional and with a wider soundstage. The stereo effect was almost nullified until the TV was pushed back closer to the wall.
