Is live music really live anymore?
Subscribe to Ask Paul Ask a QuestionIt seems that much of what's recorded these days is electronic in nature: speakers, amps, synths, etc. Is anything actually live anymore?

Any quality loud speaker worthy of that title will reproduce even your example of a derriere squirming in a chair or rosin on a bow. IF it’s on a recording good speakers will reproduce it with the same accuracy with which it was recorded. But, live is all about VOLUME. Symphony orchestras, Jazz ensembles, and Rock groups are not quiet. Some Rock groups are Jet noise LOUD.
A systems’ ability to recreate live volume without distortion, break-up, or complete destruction of the system is the key to live.
A symphony orchestra, Dave Brubeck’s Quartet, or Cream can’t fit in my listening room, but their sound can, and does.
