About Paul McGowan
Paul McGowan is the co-founder of PS Audio (The 'P' ) and has been designing, building and enjoying high end audio since 1974. He lives in Boulder Colorado with his wife Terri and his four sons: Lon, Sean, Scott and Rob. His hobbies include hiking, skiing, cooking, artisan bread baking. So Paul, as a recent purchaser of a Stellar Gain Cell DAC and an S300 stereo amp, I followed the recommendation of placing the DAC on top of the amp if available space requires, and that is the situation in my equipment rack. I assume that neither is influencing the performance of the other, is that correct? BTW, I really love the pics you insert on the web page for each video. Whoever comes up with them does a great job!
That’s easy to test… put on some music you know quite well and move the DAC away from then back to the top of the amplifier while it’s playing. Knowing the quality of PS Audio gear, I’d bet you don’t notice any difference at all.
You should be ok. There might be a slight improvement had by separating them but in the end, I don’t think it’s worth the pain.
