Quintet Power Center

If budget or space requirements preclude the use of the Power Plant Premier, then there’s no better choice than a Duet or Quintet Power Center.  Both provide chassis level power conditioning with remarkable results at an affordable price.
 
The choice between a Duet or Quintet comes down to the number of outlets and zones you require.  The Duet and Quintet both have the same level of filtering and protection.  The Duet provides 2 zones and 4 outlets while the Quintet provides 5 zones and 10 outlets.

The Quintet is housed in a gorgeous chassis whose industrial design is based on the outsides of a BMW motorcycle and is the work of PS industrial designer Chris Malato. 

The outer housing is extruded out of a solid half inch thick piece of aluminum, then machined and anodized into one of the best looking metal sculptures to ever grace a person’s home.

The Quintet Power Center is capable of powering an entire system’s worth of equipment and provide clean, safe power where it is needed.  It can be placed behind a power amp, behind a system rack or shelf, attached to the rack, or nestled between the floor and the wall due to its truncated triangular shape.

What the Quintet will provide
The Quintet provides clean, noise free power at frequencies considered state-of-the-art in a chassis based product and unheard of in this form factor and size. 
 
In fact, while most “strip” products provide little to no filtering, The Quintet provides component level filtering starting at 40kHz and above.  Remarkable for a product of this size and cost. 

The Quintet provides this component level of cleaning without restricting the power (which is not true in many of our competitor’s products). 

The secret of the Quintet’s unrestricted power delivery is found in the small Nano Crystalline cores that permit short heavy lengths of high purity copper wire to be used for the filter. Even on a heavy 15 amp load, there’s no measurable drop in voltage with a Quintet Power Center. 

Inside the Quintet is an amazing piece of construction.  From the custom built Power Port AC receptacles, to the 1/4 inch thick copper bars that carry the power from the Power Cartridge to each of the receptacles with zero loss.

Let’s take a tour
The Quintet provides up to 1750 watts of clean and protected AC which is enough power for even the most demanding systems.  Whether it’s an audio based two-channel system or a video based multi-channel home theater, 1750 watts will power pretty much anything you have.
 
The Quintet features 10 receptacles and 5 IsoZones, a fast acting circuit breaker, Nano Crystalline filter, Power Cartridge, microprocessor controlled under and over voltage surge protection, a power sequencer, CATV connectors, 12 volt DC triggers and telephone in-and-out protection.

IsoZones™
An IsoZone is a separate differential mode filter, fed by a common mode Nano Crystalline filter.  Differential mode filters clean noises generated by the equipment itself while a common mode filter cleans the incoming AC of noises already on the power line.

Each of the 5 IsoZones on the Quintet cleans and separates equipment noise.  All electronic equipment generates AC line noise, some more than others.  When you plug a digital device in the same receptacle as an analog device, the noise of one can interfere and contaminate the performance of the other.  To solve this problem, you need effective isolation between equipment.

The IsoZones use very short pieces of heavy gauge wire, wrapped around small high permeability magnetics to achieve a high level of isolation as well as great performance with unrestricted power.

Each IsoZone is fed from a common mode filter made of pure Nano Crystalline, a remarkable new space age material that has the highest permeability of any magnetic material currently available. 

Together, the two filters form an isolated cleaning network that is both non-intrusive and an excellent performer.

Power Cartridge surge and control
The Quintet features a removable power cartridge at its AC input.

This unique power cartridge is the Quintet’s first line of defense against surges, spikes and lightning hits.  The Power Cartridge can be easily replaced in the field should a problem ever occur.  For instance, if the home is struck by lightning or a surge big enough to damage the cartridge, it easily slides out and can be replaced by either the dealer or the customer.

Power sequencer
The Quintet has the capability to drive an entire system and it is therefore essential that connected equipment be turned on and off in the proper order.  Preamps, surround processors and sources need to be turned on first, while power amplifiers, integrateds and receivers should be turned on last.
 
In some cases, like that of a Tivo, hard drive music based systems or control setups, it is important to never lose power.  The Quintet’s power sequencer allows you to select any of the three available power zones and choose always on, switched on or delayed on.  With these choices, you can setup your system to automatically leave power on, turn it on or off via the Power Cartridge power button, and delay the turn on sequence until the source equipment has been activated.

12 volt trigger
The Quintet also features two 12 volt triggers that are used to remotely turn on or off the Quintet.  Apply 12 volts at either trigger input and the Quintet will turn on the connected equipment.  Remove the 12 volts and the Quintet will turn off the connected equipment.  !2 volt triggers are commonly found on surround processors, receivers, automation equipment and some preamplifiers.

CATV, telephone
For those owners of complete AV systems that have connected video and telephone, the Quintet supports two sets of antenna, cable TV, satellite or anything using a CATV (CAble TV) connector or two sets of telephones.  Anything plugged into these in/out connectors will be protected from high voltage spikes that can come through these connections.
