I have connect the optical IN on the PwD with the optical OUT on BluRay Panasonic.

In the menu Pana i choose PCM out ON but it don’t work - even when i switch on the disc AUDIO OPTIONS i choose PCM Stereo..

what goes wrong ?  I just hear “clicking” out the speakers

BluRay must work in stereo on the PWD ?, no ? or am i wrong ?

PCM bitstream don’t work on PWD ? So no, would it work with the bridge ?

On the same digital IN on PwD i listen to the stream from my radio and it works perfect.

The HDMI connector on the back of the PWD is for PSA propriatary I2S interface, not for HDMI. You can connect your blu ray player, but you need to use coax or optical. Yo can not use the HDMI jack, because it is not really a HDMI connection.

It will work on standard CD’s and SACD’s that have a standard PCM layer.

Works with my Oppo BR player on CDs and SACDs. I have not tried BR disks yet because all I have on BR are movies and no reason to try. I will try tonight to see if it works

The Oppo BDP-83 (and BDP-83SE) is limited to 48/24 digital out from BD over optical and coax regardless of the source resolution as per the Blu-Ray license agreement. If you want hi-res material from your BDs to play on the Perfect Waves, you’ll have to rip it to WAV files on a computer first and then transfer to a DVD for play in the PWT.

This seems like a good thread to post my question. I’m looking for an all in one solution to anything audio. The PWD plus the announced Bridge comes really close to a perfect solution, but…

1) Is there a chance that it will get a Multichannel sibling? A good player that decodes DSD to PCM (like the Oppo) plus a Decklink card with HDMI would allow me to transcode my SACDs and DVDAs, so ultimately my whole music collection could sit on a NAS or DAS. But as of now there is no quality network player that supports MCH.

2) A bit more on topic, could you imagine an HDMI audio input for future upgrades, so that one could listen to (at least in stereo) BD Audio discs with higher resolutions (since optical is capped by spec)?

Thanks for looking.

Signed - a Multichannel audiophile (yes, they do exist wink )

Well, I don’t think this will ever happen as an upgrade.  We’ve spoken many times about building such a piece and this may well happen but as of right now we have nothing pl wink anned out.

I’d love to have one as well.

Thanks for your answer. At least, the quoted part leaves room for some hope grin

Well, since reading HDJK’s post and since I am messing around with a Mac Mini as a media centre lately I’d like to ask a question about a related topic.

Is there any device that can read ripped movies from a Video_TS folder on a harddrive?
Something like a PWD, but for video.
I have found network players, but all they can playback are compressed movie files, not actual full DVD rips.

^^ There are many that will play the video of a TS folder, just not with menu structure (PCH, WD TV Live,...).

I think the Dune can display full DVD menues:

http://dune-hd.com/fullhd_players/72-dune-bd-prime.html

There are 2 versions, one with a BD drive and one without. There is a known issue with noisy drives, so I would stay away from those for now.

A good place for anything NMT is MPC Club:

Thanks for the info HDJK!

I see they sell the Dune in Belgium too, and they’re not expensive either. Maybe I should try one out.
I checked out the forum too and read a few reviews on the Dune and Popcorn.
I got the feeling that these kinds of devices are still in some kind of an experimental stage.
Maybe I will have to wait till something fully developed comes out from the major manufacturers.
Or maybe PS will go the A/V route too in the future?  (Hint wink  )

Wouldn’t that be sweet grin

But even if they’d just go surround with the DAC and bridge I would be a new customer!
