In an ‘07 discussion, a gent named Jonathan@PSAudio offered access to a schematic for the PS Audio 4.6.  I get a “no one’s home” message at that address now. I’ll post the request here:

In an online psaudio.com discussion regarding the failing switches,  Jonathan offered schematics.  Would anyone be willing to share them with me?

Jonathan mentioned that there there are no drop-in replacements for the failed switches, but mention that soldering in a CTS switch to the PC board was possible.  An assistance in selecting the correct CTS switch and the wiring mapping would be appreciated.

Jonathan has not been with PS for at least 4 years…

Luckily Paul’s son Scott has taken over the position and offers incredible customer service. You can email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and he’ll send you the schematics for the 4.6.

Ryan:  You are a gentleman and a scholar!  Thanks for your reply and I will give him a holler.  I have to say, that when someone else out there is tuned into a 25yr old preamp like I am, I don’t feel so strange (wheres the bass knob) and the world gets a whole lot bigger.  I have had the knob problem for a while and did similar searches in the past.  I had to wait until the WWW caught up to me dilemma..

I gave Mr. Cullen a call at that number and he gave me something to look at.  Essentially, he is indicating that there are two types of switches that showed up on the 4.6.  The housing is either white or blue.  The blue ones he can’t do anything for since they have been discontinued.  I am pretty sure I am hosed there.

So, back to finding a good pre-amp to replacing it…  This is probably not a good forum to get an unbiased recommendation… grin
