I am looking to get a passive conditioner.
I would like to passively condition my whole system. Would it be better to get a Quintessence or 3 duets.
The Q has better filtering but with the 3 duets theres better system separation.
What would you recommend?
Regards

Unless the 3 Duets are each on their own dedicated line, I don’t believe you are getting better system separation.  So the bigger question is what are you plugging into the Quintet and can it handle the load?

Personally I don’t think the Q has better filtering - I think you may have this wrong. In terms of filtering, the Q has 5 IsoZones while the D has 2.
Also:- With x3 Duets you’ll get x3 power cartridges, and there’s some electronics built inside .. definately surge protection; but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that there’s also some filtering taking place in the cartridge. If this is so, then theoretically you should get better filtering AND seperation with x3 Duets.

Further advanges could be physically moving the duets away from each other and/or closer to equipment. But you should also consider costs:- I’ve recently upgraded my whole system to AC12’s, and WOW!! I don’t think you’d want to buy x3 AC12’s just to power up the Duets ...

Finally, you should also consider functionality:- Are you sure you won’t need the additional features of the Q? (power sequencing and 12V trigger).

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. Appreciated.

I thought the Q’s SuperFilter was superior to the Duets. I may have read this wrong.

My apology. I misread and thought you were referring to the Quintet. Yes, the Quintessence had a “superfilter” in, but it is not available any more unless you can get it second-hand.

The reason I asked was because I can get new, old stock.

Still undecided.

O.K. I see ... I’ve sold quite a few Quintessences in South Africa with very minimal problems. This is really a great product.
If the price is right this may very well be an option.
But, if you were considering x3 Duets - you may as well also consider the AV5000.
