Speakers offer the greatest range of complex interaction of any single element in the audio video chain and aside from the power cable there is no single cable more important in the chain. Difficulties range from a purely resistive load to a nightmare of impedance dips and inductive challenges that are a cable designer’s worst case scenario. As the most difficult design challenge in the audio chain, the speaker cable is also the most important link to great sound. Speaker cables are not the area to compromise your cable choices. In fact, all the hard work and energy invested in our system’s perfection can be partially wasted if we aren’t careful how we connect the final link between our power amplifier/receiver to our loudspeakers. That’s why we saved the best for last The xStream series of interconnecting cables started with the Digital xStreams™, progressed to the Audio  xStreams™, then the Power xStreams™ and finally, the Speaker xStreams™ as the last in the audio and power series. Perhaps more time and more energy have gone into the design and production of the PS Audio Speaker xStream than any other cable product we have ever worked on.We are proud to introduce to the world the PS Audio Speaker xStream series of power interconnects. Designed to couple the output of your power amplifier, receiver or integrated amp to your loudspeakers, the Speaker xStreams will bring you closer to the music than any loudspeaker cable on the planet. There are four models of Speaker xStreams to choose from: the Prelude, Plus, Statement and the awe inspiring Statement Bi-Wire version. All four models share a similar design The design philosophy behind the Speaker xStreams couples both solid core and multi-strand bundles of pure copper into an artful blend of power connectivity.  The xStreams™ don’t add or subtract musical information, but instead provide the most direct and unencumbered path possible, eschewing the need for fancy in-line boxes and shaping networks. The Speaker xStreams are designed to get your speakers as close to the output of your power amplifier with absolutely as little interference as possible. All four models of Speaker xStreams also come with detachable spade and banana connectors so you never have to worry about future compatibility problems with equipment and the xStreams. Users are able to simply screw the appropriate connector in to place and make the proper hookup. Soldered connections on all models Every strand of pure OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) conductor on every Speaker xStream™ is soldered to the solid, machined and gold plated, terminals. Soldering is achieved through the use of a high purity high silver content solder that provides a nearly perfect “welding” of the conductors to the connectors for a perfect match. After hand soldering the terminations, every xStream cable is inspected and finally electrically tested to insure a perfect fit and connectivity. The Prelude Our least expensive speaker cable is the Prelude.  Interestingly enough, the Prelude will perhaps be a more robust and technologically advanced speaker cable than most company’s top-of-the-line model, yet it is PS Audio’s entry level product.That's how advanced a design the entire series of xStream Speaker cables are! The overall gauge of the Prelude is equivalent to 10 gauge (big!) and has 3 separately insulated solid core conductors in a spiral, wrapped around the individually insulated Multi-strand core. The Prelude is a great all around speaker cable built in an oval configuration that measures approximately one inch wide by a little over half an inch tall when laying on the floor. The Prelude comes with both spade and banana connectors and is an excellent choice for most systems. Don't hesitate to consider our entry level product for even your most demanding situations. For instance, at this price what high-end home  theater or moderately priced music system wouldn't benefit from the rich audio presentation offered by these affordable beauties?The Plus As in many product mixes our middle cable will perhaps be our most popular cable. Decidedly more robust in its musical presentation than the Prelude, the Plus stands as our best value in a speaker cable. Based on a huge amount of OFC copper, the Plus is the equivalent of an 8 gauge cable with six individually insulated solid core conductors wrapped around a separately insulated core of Multi-strand OFC copper. The Plus will compete with almost any speaker cable on the market and is a great choice for all but the most demanding of situations. Big claim? Bold statements? You bet, but we challenge you to compare these state-  of-the-art models with any other competitor's offerings at anywhere remotely close in price and we believe you will then appreciate all the many hundreds and hundreds of hours we have spent listening, designing and refining these loudspeaker power interconnects.The Plus relies on an oval construction, the outer diameter of the cable is just over an inch and the height of the cable laying on the floor is just under three quarters of an inch. The Plus comes with both solid machined and gold plated spade and banana connectors as standard and will provide the owner with years of musical satisfaction. While not the Statement or the Bi-wire version, the Plus is clearly a notch above the vast majority of cables in the world today and (we suspect) probably better than what is connecting your speakers to your amplifier right now. The Statement Our ultimate expression in a single wire configuration is the Statement xStream. This beast is based on 6 gauge construction, has nine (count them!) solid core conductors wrapped around a heavy rope lay of Multi-strand and painstakingly hand terminated with high purity silver bearing solder. We believe there are no finer single-wire speaker cables available today than the Statement and it will soon be your reference once you try it in your system. Recommended for any highly resolving stereo or theater sy  stem, the Statement will pass, unimpeded, all musical information delivered by your amplifier. So pure is this power speaker interconnect that we suggest you may have never heard your system’s full potential until you try the Statement xStream Speaker. At nearly one pound per foot per cable, the Statement’s are no lightweight. The dimensions are essentially the same as the Prelude and Plus at just over one inch wide and three quarters of an inch tall when laying on the floor. The Statements come with two sets of spade connectors and two sets of banana connectors, each set machined from solid high-copper-content material and then polished, gold plated, and polished again. The Statements truly represent our finest effort in a state-of-the-art single-wire audio power transmission system and are perfect for any level of loudspeaker power amplifier combination on the planet. The mother of all speaker cables During our design work on the Speaker xStreams many folks participated on our forums to suggest that what  they really wanted in a power transmission system is a true bi-wire version of the Statement.No easy task to design and certainly no easy task to build, but we are pleased to announce the Statement Speaker Bi-wire version. Hang on to your hats! This behemoth is all about the glories of excess and the pursuit of perfection. What is a Bi-wire? Essentially it is going the extra mile to achieve 'the best of both worlds'. A bi-wire speaker cable combines two completely separate runs of cable to help isolate the high frequencies from the low frequencies. It is well known that a single transmission system for audio power is always somewhat of a compromise. Why? Because perfectly optimized cable construction is different for each frequency group. If we were only concerned with the midrange or top of the woofer and below, we would focus our design efforts on one style of construction that might be entirely different than the requirements for a tweeter and  midrange only.When you build a single-wire cable, you do your level best to combine the finest attributes of both worlds of construction to achieve the least amount of compromise and the highest level of full-range fidelity. However, we can do better. If your speakers have dual sets of binding posts that separate the high and low drivers (and most high-end speakers do), then there’s nothing better than optimizing the cable’s construction for each driver and crossover set. Different construction The bass frequencies on the xStream Bi-Wire are handled by an entire Statement speaker cable. The combination of 6 gauge solid core and Multi-strand are perfect for the bass frequencies as well as the midrange. For the higher frequencies, we created another statement cable without the middle Multi-strand bundle. So, the top end conductors are built from 9 separately insulated solid core conductors that are then silver plated with an extremely pure silver. Silver plating is both expensive and, in our opinion, not to be used in a single-wire cable as it adds a glare to the overall musical presentation. However, used as a standalone high frequency conductor, in conjunction with the pure copper Statement, the results are simply breathtaking.  It just doesn't get much better than this!Wanna go for it? The Bi-Wire Statement xStream is unparalleled by virtually anything else we have ever seen. At nearly two pounds per foot, this cable is so big that we can only package it in separate boxes, one for each side. The dimensions are nearly one and a half inches in diameter, and on the amplifier end there are two conductors (+/-) and on the speaker end there are four conductors. Included with the xStream Bi-Wires are full sets of both spade and banana connectors so you can mix and match to your heart’s content. A revelation awaits your system As we began this piece, so we shall end it. There’s nothing more challenging than the design of an audio power delivery system. Getting the power from your amplifier all the way to your loudspeakers is a big deal if you want to do it right.
