"In my nearly 25 years as an audiophile with a discriminating ear, I have NEVER been bowled over and blown away as I was after hearing the Trio the night I hooked it up. Cold from the box it sounded incredibly neutral, balanced and refined...much more so than my 150.2 Audio Research, which is also a digital switching amp. The highs? No way were they rolled off or colored in ANY way!! For the first time after a couple days I closed my eyes and said how in Hell did they do this!? I heard crystal clear highs...sweet and clear but not at all etched either. Kind of like you'd hear in real life. Not just the highs though...everything was balanced and dynamic like a live performance across the entire frequency range. Imaging is the best I had ever heard too. Spooky in its realism.
Now the real kicker. As a musician, I'm keen on phrasing certain ways to emotionally reach out to my audience in performance. Never before has equipment been able to transcend those live performance elements until I tried you’re A-100. Until your Trio amp, there was a slight veil over the music, kind of like a photo of a scene instead of the real thing. (By the way, you did this with Solid State and digital at that. How? I thought only tubes were "magical" that way!) It just duplicates the best or worst of any source going into it. The Trio passes the signal from source components like a chameleon reading the signal. What did this do for my wife? (not an audiophile mind you...) I couldn't tear her form my listening seat! She also said she had never heard the system sound so live and REAL before. She's a music teacher, so she knows good when she hears it. I played a recording of acoustic guitar and clarinet on "Ave Maria", and her remark as she listened was..."it makes me want to cry it's so real sounding. I feel the musicians and their physical efforts as they are playing... it's so much like being there!" I guess that could rank as one of the best compliments you folks as masters of your art could receive.
So, I have my amp back from Audio Research and the box remains factory sealed with complimentary updates mind you! I'm not interested in it any longer. Had I believed the "coloration" statement of previous reviews and not bought your amp for back up I might never have known what was in it for magic My Audio Research is now for sale. Why? My wife and I can't bring ourselves to part with what brought emotion and realism into our household for the very first time. Your little humble and unassuming A100. Bravo Folks...and at $995?? Thank you...Thank you. Take a bow

The Trio A-100 stereo power amplifier is a 300 watt per channel kick butt high-end power amplifier that's affordable and great sounding. Based on cool running ICE technology, the Trio is a dual mono design with separate regulated power supplies. Ready to bi-amp at the click of a switch, the Trio can work wonders with any speakers and, because of its high input imedance, can be driven by even a tube preamp with no restrictions.
