The Power Plant provides complete protection from surges, lightning, noise, and erratic line behavior. Because the Power Plant is fully regulated, it will always produce 120 volts AC regardless of how low or how high your line voltage drops or raises. It is therefore unaffected by surges.The Power Plant is protected from lightning, surges, etc. in three ways. Most line conditioners and power strips protect in only one way, some in two, but none in all three. In fact, the PS Audio Power Plant series is the safest, and best regulated power source in the AV world today. No other manufacturer can lay claim to the Power Plant's extraordinary level of protection.
Multiple, redundant MOV protection Many manufacturers are bad mouthing the MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) claiming that it is prone to failure. We disagree. Properly designed, with adequate redundancy, and the use of extremely high current devices, insures that this first line of defense from surges and lightning strikes will work just fine. The PS Audio Power Plant system incorporates 4500 amp MOV's in multiple pairs, that will protect the Power Plant and your system from anything short of a direct lightning strike. There is nothing made today that can stand a direct hit, but direct hits of lightning are in fact rare (to say the least). Transformer isolation The Power Plant's second line of defense is its custom wound, shielded AC transformer. This transformer offers an additional 40 dB (or 100 times) of isolation from outside noises, and lightning strikes. Brick wall power amplifier What separates the Power Plant from virtually every protection and conditioning device on the market today is its brick wall power amplifier. Even if the first and second lines of defense (listed above) were to fail, no surge, no noise, no voltage fluctuation can get past the output amplifier of the PS Audio Power Plant. It is, indeed, a true brick wall filter. Fully regulated Certainly no power conditioner, no power protection device on the market today, with the exception of the PS Audio Power Plant, can lay claim to full regulation. Fully regulating the output of the Power Plant means that regardless of what you put in (from 95 volts AC to 140 volts AC) you will get out perfect, no compromise 120 volts AC (or 220 volt AC depending on which model you purchased) So, it doesn't matter if you have low line conditions at night and high line conditions during the day, or even an occasional power surge, the Power Plant will produce perfect 120 volts (or 220 volt) AC. Video pass through In order to make certain that your audio video system is completely isolated from the outside world, and thereby protected from surges and lightning strikes, we have provided a video pass through connector on the rear panel of the P300 model. The video pass through connector consists of two CATV gold plated connectors for your TV cable, VCR, etc. and a gas discharge protection device, internal to the Power Plant. By connecting your cable TV through this pass through arrangement, you will be protecting your AV. system from the possibility of damage due to an electrical storm. |
