Technology Innovation awards for 2000, the P300 Power Plant stands tall as the world's first, only and finest AC regeneration device.A high end AC power generator, the P300 Power Plant is the smallest of three models of Power Plants. The Power Plant produces new line voltage used to perfectly power your equipment and, in so doing, make a huge sonic and visual difference. Interested in eliminating the constant glare your system has? You may not even recoginize this glare, until its gone! This is the real thing! Better depth, huge increase in layering, and improved dynamics and bass. The Power Plants are NOT a filter or balanced transformer. These are actual AC generators that produce perfectly clean AC power under ANY conditions, even when the incoming AC is clipped or badly distorted - something no filter, power line conditioner, or balanced transformer can do.For a more complete functional description of the Power Plant's operation and intended uses, please refer to the technical details. 'I just installed a P300 in my system and I can’t believe my ears!!! The system is all Mark Levinson, 335, 380S, 390S, Martin Logan Odysseys cabled with Nordost Red Dawn and all (including the P300 now) plugged into Ultimate Outlets. The preamp and CD player were previously connected to an Audio Power Industries Power Wedge. Now, I’m an electrical engineer so I know the intricacies of the technology you’ve implemented. That background also gives me a healthy skepticism that frankly was overcome only by your 30 day return policy. The results are like someone removed a veil from the system and added what sounds like almost ½ to a full octave at the low end along with an unbelievable improvement in punch.' Lenny Zwick The P300 is intended for use with virtually all low to medium power requirement devices such as, preamps, CD players, small power amps, DAC's, surround sound processors, turntables, phono preamplifiers, tape recorders, DAT machines, DVD players, etc. Power limitations of the P300 are 300 watts, total output. That is, with everything you connect up to the Power Plant, the total current requirements of all units combined should not exceed 300 watts. Front Panel The front panel of the PS Audio P300 Power Plant has 4 buttons. ![]()
Turns the unit on/off. There is, in addition, a master power switch on the rear panel. Mode This button will perform a number of functions on the P300 model. The mode switch will activate the front panel display, which will indicate the number of watts produced by the Power Plant, select sine wave or MultiWave, and allow you to adjust the output voltage. For a more detailed explanation, see front panel. Select Up/Down This button set will select the frequencies or the MultiWave pattern available to the user. Power Plants can change their output frequencies, and in so doing, will provide one of the most important sonic and visual improvements to your equipment's performance ever. In fact, the ability of the Power Plant to operate your equipment at a frequency that is higher than the nominal output frequency of the wall socket (50 Hz or 60 Hz) is one of the reasons the Power Plant is light years ahead of any other scheme to improve power on the market today. There are several new Power Plant-like devices appearing on the market, but none of these produces different frequencies, and none are balanced in their output. There are 20 frequencies available, and a display to indicate which frequency you are on. Labeled as Frequency on the front panel, selection results in different output frequencies being generated by the Power Plant. P300's that are now shipping with MultiWave II+ will vary from 50 Hz, to 120 Hz in 70 steps. This gives you 0.0625Hz accuracy of sinewaves to choose from. Accuracy like this is perfect for turntables and adjusting the way your system sounds. The advantage of using the Power Plant to provide perfectly synchronized line frequency to your turntable or tape recorder is enormous when it comes to maintaining perfectly accurate speed. Higher frequencies will make a noticeable sonic improvement to the system's depth. P300 comes with more than just sinewaves, they come with MultiWave II. This technology is a major step ahead of sine waves used to power your equipment. There are 5 MultiWave II patterns, including our now famous TubeWave available through the front panel controls. System Clean Our newest feature in Power Plants is System Clean. System Clean sweeps the system clean and renews the audio system for peak performance every time you press the button. System Clean has two modes: a 30 second thorough cleaning mode and a short burst mode. The two modes sweep a set of frequency modulated sinewaves through the entire range of 50Hz to 120Hz and then back again in a gentle cleansing routine for anything connected to it. Before you begin listening to your system, press System Clean (one of the modes) and let the Power Plant cleanse your system. If you're doing serious listening, use the short burst mode between CD's or vinyl to referesh the system between plays. You will notice fuller midbass, less harshness and an ease of presentation that can only happen once the system is 'purged' of its AC problems. System Clean is available as standard on all Power Plants produced after March 2005. If you have an older Power Plant, you can upgrade to include the System Clean feature by purchasing the Plus upgrade of MultiWave II. Click here for further details. Display The PS Audio P300 Power Plant has a display on the front panel. The display contains three elements:Digital readout Headroom current warning Shut down indication Digital Readout: The P300 has a three digit numeric readout that indicates the actual ouput frequency of the Power Plant, the voltage it is producing on its output, or how many watts it is delivering to your equipment. There are 20 selections of frequencies, from 50 Hz to 120 Hz as well as 9 selections of MultiWaves. In addition, the front panel display will indicate the watts produced by the Power Plant, while it's feeding your equipment. For a more detailed explanation, see front panel. Headroom current warning The Power Plant has a yellow LED light that will illuminate when you reach 250 watts current draw at the output of the Power Plant. This will indicate to you that you have reached the maximum advisable number of units that should be attached to the output AC receptacles on the Power Plant. Shut down indicator Should the 300 watt rating be exceeded by even a small amount, the Power Plant will automatically shut down operation and a red LED light will illuminate informing you of the Power Plant's decision to cease safe operations. You will then be prompted to unplug at least one device from the rear of the unit to decrease the load on the Power Plant before resuming operations by pushing the front panel power button. ![]() Voltage adjust The front panel of the Power Plant will also allow the user to make adjustments to the Power Plant's output voltage. On the domestic model, you can adjust from 100 volts to 120 volts. On the international models, you can adjust between 220 volts and 240 volts. Rear Panel The rear panel of the P300 Power Plant has four elements:
On the rear panel of the PS Audio P300 Power Plant, there are four Power Port AC outlets. These are the finest AC sockets made, and are designed and manufactured to our specifications.AC Inlet The rear panel of the PS Audio P300 has a single high quality IEC AC inlet, that houses both a master power switch, and a fuse, in addition to the AC inlet. Video pass through The PS P300 Power Plant is completely surge protected as well as lightning protected. In order to make certain that your audio video system is completely isolated from the outside world, and thereby protected from surges and lightning strikes, we have provided a video pass through connector on the rear panel. The video pass through connector consists of two CATV gold plated connectors for your TV cable, VCR, etc. and a gas discharge protection device, internal to the Power Plant. By connecting your cable TV through this pass through arrangement, you will be protecting your AV system from the possibility of damage due to an electrical storm. The video pass through feature is available only on the P300. Ground Binding post The rear panel of the PS Audio Power Plant has a ground binding post. This post is available for two purposes:
Ground isolation is the ultimate for best sound. If your are in a position to properly incorporate an outside ground stake, the binding post feature on the Power Plant can make a huge sonic difference. That is because, unfortunately, the ground on your AC outlets has noise and hash on it just like the AC signal itself. While the Power Plant will completely clean up the AC signal as advertised, it cannot (by law) touch the ground. For safety sake, we must leave the third wire ground connected to our equipment. PS Audio and the Power Plant provide a solution to this problem, by allowing you to isolate the ground on the four AC outlets, located on the rear panel of the Power Plant (by removing an internal jumper), and then reconnecting the, now isolated, ground binding post to an outside ground stake that you install.Dimensions
