Bridge II is designed as an easy slip in PC board that enables network streaming on your DAC. The promise? Plug it in and you're good to go. Only, it's just not that easy. Once you slip it in, you have to make sure you're connected to the home network. Then you have to have the right controller software on your PC or mobile phone. And while there are several to choose from, you actually have to make a choice. Then, where is your music stored? NAS? Computer? You will have to point the controller to where music lives before you can play.
Indeed, once you spend a few minutes in setup the product works great and sounds great. A whole new world of streaming music opens up and you're smiling. But it takes some time and effort. Just like setting up a pair of new speakers. Where do you place them? Are they plunked down in the best spot for looks or sound? How much can you wrangle them around to achieve both? Is it even possible to find that sweet spot?
When you try something new you risk the struggle to make it work, but when it does, the reward often outweighs the pain of getting there.
