As our new memory player, DMP, gets out in the marketplace, trade-ins are coming through the door at a fast pace. I was asked if I wanted to take a peek inside one of the traded-in PWTs. Here are a couple of pictures of its insides. IMG_1266 IMG_1267 Note the black wrapping tape? The entire insides are covered with some type of EMI protective gauze. Each semiconductor sports a metal top hat of some unknown substance, and the sides are coated with mysterious silvered foil. I know EMI impacts sound quality. But as a manufacturer, we could never bring ourselves to defile a beautiful piece of kit in this manner. There are far more elegant means of blocking RFI. Means we are currently woking hard on for the upcoming Octave Music Server, on schedule for very late 2017. It's always fascinating to see the extent to which people go to squeeze performance out of equipment.
